Section 1

(1) This Order may be cited as the Police and Magistrates' Courts Act 1994 (Commencement No. 6 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1995.

(2) This Order shall come into force on 3rd February 1995.

Section 2

Subject to article 3, paragraph 19(1) and (2) of Schedule 8 to the Police and Magistrates' Courts Act 1994 (amendments of section 59(1) of the Justices of the Peace Act 1979 ) shall come into force by virtue of this Order.

Section 3

Section 59(1) of the Justices of the Peace Act 1979 as amended by paragraph 19(1) and (2) of Schedule 8 of the Police and Magistrates' Courts Act 1994 shall apply as regards the net cost to a responsible authority in any year of its functions under the Justices of the Peace Act 1949 (Compensation) Regulations 1978 only in respect of decisions on claims for compensation made by a determining authority under those Regulations on or after 3rd February 1995.
