Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (Commencement No. 17) Order 1995.

(2) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.

Section 2 Commencement of section 71

Subject to article 3 the following provisions of section 71 of the Act, in so far as not already in force, shall come into force on 1st April 1995:

(a) subsection (1), for the purposes only of subsections (4) to (6);

(b) subsections (4), (6) and (8);

(c) subsection (5), for the purposes only of paragraph (a) of that subsection.

Section 3 Transitional provision

Nothing in article 2 shall have effect to apply the requirements of subsections (4) and (5) of section 71 of the Act before 1st July 1995 in relation to any company formed on or before 31st March 1995.
