Section 1Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Gosport Borough Council) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 24th July 1996.

Section 2Exemptions
(1) Cleaning (other than the cleaning of buildings), and the repair and maintenance of vehicles, shall not be treated as defined activities so long as they are carried out by the council of the borough of Gosport (“the authority”) in their area before 1st April 1997.
(2) The maintenance of ground by the authority shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out in their area during the period beginning on 1st January 1997 and ending with 31st March 1997.
