Section 1

This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Confiscation Orders) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st August 1996.

Section 2

Part I of Schedule 4 to the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (offences in respect of which magistrates' courts may make confiscation orders) shall be amended by the addition to the offences there listed of the following offence, namely, an offence under section 114(1) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992 .

Section 3

Accordingly, the table of offences set out in Part I of Schedule 4 to the Criminal Justice Act 1988 is amended by the addition, after the entry in respect of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 , of the following:—

The amendment made by article 2 above does not apply in relation to offences committed before the day on which this Order comes into force.
