Section 1
(1) This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1982 (Commencement No. 7 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1996.
(2) For the purposes of this Order, the appointed day is 1st August 1996.

The Transport Act 1982 (Commencement No. 7 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1996
Section 2
Subject to article 3 below, section 18 of the Transport Act 1982 shall come into force on the appointed day.
Section 3
During the period beginning with the appointed day and ending immediately before the day on which section 8 of the Transport Act 1982 comes into force, section 63A(3)(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 shall have effect with the omission of the words “or by the prescribed testing authority”.
