Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Nursery Education and Grant-Maintained Schools Act 1996 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1996.

(2) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Nursery Education and Grant-Maintained Schools Act 1996.

Section 2 Commencement of provisions

Save as provided in article 3, the provisions of the Act shall come into force on 1st September 1996.

Section 3 Commencement of provisions

Article 2 shall not have effect for the purpose of bringing the following provisions of the Act into force:

(a) section 5, so far as it relates to the provisions of Schedule 1 not brought into force by this Order; and

(b) paragraph 6(1)(a), (2), (3) so far as it relates to inspections under paragraph 6(1)(a) and (5), paragraphs 8(2) and 14, so far as they relate to inspections under paragraph 6(1)(a), and paragraph 16 of Schedule 1.
