Section 1Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Braintree and South Bedfordshire District Councils) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 4th November 1996.

Section 2Exemption of grounds maintenance
The maintenance of ground by the council of the district of Braintree shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out within any cemetery in their area before 1st January 1998.
Section 3Exemption of cleaning of buildings
The cleaning of buildings by the council of the district of South Bedfordshire shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out before 1st October 1997 in relation to buildings within their area other than—
(a) The District Offices, High Street North, Dunstable, and
(b) public conveniences.
