Section 1
(1) This Order may be cited as the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 (Commencement No. 3 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1996.
(2) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

The Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 (Commencement No. 3 and Transitional Provisions) Order 1996
Section 2
(1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3) below, section 8 of the Act shall come into force on 27th January 1997.
(2) Section 8 of the Act shall not apply to employment which began before 27th January 1997.
(3) For the purpose only of making orders under subsections (1) and (2), section 8 of the Act shall come into force on 1st December 1996.
