Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Grants for Pre-school Education (Social Security Information) (Scotland) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 31st December 1996.

Section 2 Social Security Information

The description of information prescribed for the purposes of section 26(8) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1996 (meaning of “social security information”) is any information supplied to the Secretary of State in connection with a claim for, or in connection with the adjudication of a claim for, child benefit pursuant to Part IX of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992 and in particular–

(a) the name, address and date of birth of the child or of each child in respect of whom child benefit is claimed; and

(b) the name and address of the person by whom the claim for child benefit is made.
