Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Friendly Societies (General Charge and Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 31st December 1996.

Section 2 Interpretation

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations ” means the Friendly Societies (General Charge and Fees) Regulations 1996 .

Section 3 Amendments to the principal Regulations

For paragraph 5 of Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations there shall be substituted the following paragraph—

(5) For the registration of an annual return or a set of annual accounts (except where the society or branch concerned has by written notice sent to the central office irrevocably elected to pay the fees specified in paragraph 6 of this Schedule)—

(a) in the case of an annual return or a set of annual accounts for a year of account ended on or before 31st December 1995—

(b) in the case of an annual return or a set of annual accounts for any subsequent year of account—
