The Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations 1996

Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into force on 25th April 1996.

Section 2

The Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations 1991 and the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations 1994 are hereby revoked.

Section 3

(1) For the definition of “the Community Recording Equipment Regulation” in each of the provisions specified in paragraph (2) below there shall be substituted the following definition:

“the Community Recording Equipment Regulation” means Council Regulation ( EEC ) No. 3821/85 on recording equipment in road transport as it has effect in accordance with—

Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 3314/90 ;

Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 3688/92 ; and

Commission Regulation ( EC ) No. 2479/95 ;

and as read with the Community Drivers’ Hours and Recording Equipment (Exemptions and Supplementary Provisions) Regulations 1986 ;

(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) above are:

(a) section 97(7) of the Transport Act 1968 ;

(b) section 85 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 ;

(c) regulation 1(3) of the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations 1979 ; and

(d) regulation 3(3) of the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Amendment) Regulations 1984 .
