Section 1

(1) This Order may be cited as the Education Act 1996 (Commencement No. 2 and Appointed Day) Order 1997.

(2) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Education Act 1996.

Section 2

(1) Section 528 of the Act in its application to England shall come into force on 1st August 1997.

(2) The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on 1st September 1997—

Section 348.

Part II of Schedule 37 and section 582(1) so far as relating thereto.

Part II of Schedule 38 and section 582(2) so far as relating thereto.

Section 3

1st September 1997 is hereby appointed for the purposes of section 517(6) of the Act and that day is appointed for all the provisions referred to in that subsection and for all purposes.
