Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Authorities (Direct Labour Organisations) (Competition) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 14th August 1997.

(2) In these Regulations, “the principal Regulations ” means the Local Authorities (Direct Labour Organisations) (Competition) (Wales) Regulations 1997 .

Section 2 Amendment of the principal Regulations

(1) The principal Regulations shall be amended in accordance with the following paragraph.

(2) For paragraph (2) of regulation 3 (application) substitute the following—

(2) In relation to works of new construction, these Regulations apply to a works contract entered into on or after 1st October 1998 and to functional work to be carried out on or after that date.

(3) In relation to,

(a) general highway works;

(b) the construction or maintenance of a sewer; and

(c) works of maintenance,

these Regulations apply to a works contract entered into on or after 1st January 1999 and to functional work to be carried out on or after that date. .
