Section 1

The said regulations are hereby approved.

Section 2

This order may be cited as the General Medical Council (Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations) Order of Council 1997.

Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These regulations may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1 August 1997.

(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations ” means the Medical Practitioners Registration (Fees) Regulations 1985 .

Section 2 Amendment of the principal Regulations

In regulation 5 of the principal Regulations, in paragraphs (1) and (2), for the words “regulation 8 or 9” substitute “regulation 8”.

Section 3 Regulation revoked

Regulation 9 of the principal Regulations is hereby revoked.

Section 4 Transitional Provision

Where, before 1 August 1997, a person has applied for exemption from payment of annual retention fees pursuant to regulation 9 of the principal Regulations, but that application has not been determined before that date, his application shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of that regulation as though it remained in force.
