Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st September 1997.

Section 2

The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Oil Pollution) Regulations 1996 shall be amended as follows.

Section 3

In regulation 7(6)(a) for “fitting arrangements” there shall be substituted “fittings, arrangements”.

Section 4

In regulation 8(1)(b) after “Secretary of State” there shall be inserted “, other than the direct replacement of fittings or equipment”.

Section 5

In regulation 14(2) for “(2) and (6)” there shall be substituted “(3) and (6)”.

Section 6

In regulation 16(3)(b) for “Paragraph (2)(a)” there shall be substituted “Paragraph (2)(b)”.

Section 7

In regulation 32(3)(b) for “platform” there shall be substituted “machinery space”.

Section 8

In regulation 36(2) for “£50,000” there shall be substituted “£250,000”.

Section 9

In regulation 37(3)(c)(i) and (ii) for “£55,000” there shall be substituted “£255,000”.
