The Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Hackney and Southwark London Borough Councils and Liverpool City Council) Order 1997

Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Hackney and Southwark London Borough Councils and Liverpool City Council) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 29th August 1997.

Section 2 Exemption of financial services

The provision of financial services by Hackney London Borough Council shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out before 23rd February 1998.

Section 3 Exemption of grounds maintenance

The maintenance of ground by Southwark London Borough Council shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out before 6th April 1998.

Section 4 Exemption of sports and leisure facilities management

The management of sports and leisure facilities by Liverpool City Council shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as—

(a) it is carried out at Beechley Riding Stables, Harthill Road, Calderstones Park, Liverpool L18 4TU; and

(b) that facility is provided for use predominantly by disabled persons (within the meaning of Part I of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 ).
