Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) Act 1997 (Commencement) Order 1997.

(2) In this Order, “the 1997 Act ” means the Social Security (Recovery of Benefits) Act 1997.

Section 2 Appointed days

(1) The following provisions of the 1997 Act shall come into force on 3rd September 1997 for the purpose of conferring on the Secretary of State the powers to make regulations:

section 1(2) insofar as it relates to paragraphs 4 and 8 of Part I of Schedule 1

section 4(9)

section 11(5) and (6)

section 12(6) and (7)

section 13(3)

section 14(2), (3) and (4)

section 16(1) and (2)

section 18

section 19

section 21(3)

section 23(1), (2), (5) and (7).

(2) The 1997 Act to the extent it is not already in force shall come into force on 6th October 1997.
