Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grant-Maintained Special Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st October 1997.

(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations ” means the Education (Grant-Maintained Special Schools) Regulations 1994 .

Section 2 Amendment of principal Regulations

For regulation 41 of the principal Regulations there shall be substituted the following regulation—

Functions of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and the Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment Authority for Wales

(41) Sections 23 and 29 of the Education Act 1997 shall apply in relation to a grant-maintained special school which is not established in a hospital as they apply in relation to a grant-maintained school.
