Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Waste Management Licensing (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 9th October 1997.

Section 2 Technical Competence

For Table 1 in regulation 4 of the Waste Management Licensing Regulations 1994 , there shall be substituted:

Table 1

(1) Managing landfill operations: biodegradable waste (level 4); or

(2) Managing landfill operations: special waste (level 4).

(1) Landfill operations: inert waste (level 3); or

(2) Managing landfill operations: biodegradable waste (level 4); or

(3) Managing landfill operations: special waste (level 4).

(1) Managing treatment operations: clinical or special waste (level 4); or

(2) Managing treatment operations: special waste (level 4) (see note).

(1) Managing treatment operations: biodegradable waste (level 4); or

(2) Managing treatment operations: clinical or special waste (level 4); or

(3) Managing treatment operations: special waste (level 4) (see note).

(1) Treatment operations: inert waste (level 3); or

(2) Managing treatment operations: biodegradable waste (level 4); or

(3) Managing treatment operations: clinical or special waste (level 4); or

(4) Managing treatment operations: special waste (level 4) (see note).

A transfer station where—

clinical or special waste is dealt with; and

the total quantity of waste at the station at any time exceeds 5 cubic metres.

(1) Managing transfer operations: clinical or special waste (level 4); or

(2) Managing transfer operations: special waste (level 4) (see note).

A transfer station where—

biodegradable waste, but no clinical or special waste, is dealt with; and

the total quantity of waste at the station at any time exceeds 5 cubic metres.

(1) Managing transfer operations: biodegradable waste (level 4); or

(2) Managing transfer operations: clinical or special waste (level 4); or

(3) Managing transfer operations: special waste (level 4) (see note).

(1) Transfer operations: inert waste (level 3); or

(2) Managing transfer operations: biodegradable waste (level 4); or

(3) Managing transfer operations: clinical or special waste (level 4); or

(4) Managing transfer operations: special waste (level 4) (see note).

(1) Civic amenity site operations (level 3); or
