Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Gas Act 1995 (Rateable Values) (Modification) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 3rd March 1997.

Section 2 Modifications of rateable value

(1) The British Gas plc (Rateable Values) Order 1994 is modified as follows.

(2) With effect from 1st April 1996, in article 2 (interpretation), in the definition of “the standard formula”, for paragraph (a) there is substituted—

(a) T in respect of English gas hereditaments is £478,731,900 and in respect of Welsh gas hereditaments is £28,676,000;

(3) With effect from 1st March 1996, article 5 (rateable values) has effect as if in paragraph (a) for “£483,887,500” there were substituted “£478,731,900” and for “£29,373,300” there were substituted “£28,676,000”.
