Section 1Citation, commencement and transitional provision

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st December 1997.

(2) These Regulations apply where proceedings are discontinued or withdrawn on or after 1st December 1997.

Section 2Amendment of the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) Regulations 1989

Regulation 35(1)(b) of the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) Regulations 1989 shall be amended by inserting at the end “or where the proceedings were discontinued or withdrawn”.
