These regulations may be cited as the Coast Protection (Variation of Excluded Waters) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 12th December 1997.

The Coast Protection (Variation of Excluded Waters) Regulations 1997
For paragraph 9 of Schedule 4 to the Coast Protection Act 1949 (which, for the purposes of Part I of the Act excludes from the definitions of “sea” and “seashore” the River Esk (Yorkshire) above a line drawn from the seaward end of the West Pier to the seaward end of the East Pier at Whitby) there shall be substituted the following paragraph—
(9) The River Esk (Yorkshire) above a line drawn from the southern edge of Tate Hill Pier to the southern edge of Scotch Head at Whitby.
