Section 1Citation

This Order may be cited as the Local Government and Rating Act 1997 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1997.

Section 2Commencement of rural settlement provisions in England and Wales

(1) Section 1 of the Local Government and Rating Act 1997 (which introduces Schedule 1) shall come into force on the day following the making of this Order.

(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1) above, no rural settlement list shall have effect for a financial year before that beginning on 1st April 1998.
