Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Housing (Right to Acquire) (Discount) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 1st April 1997.

(2) In this Order “area” means a “local government area” as defined by section 270 of the Local Government Act 1972 .

Section 2 Amounts of Discount

The following amounts of discount are specified for the purpose of section 17(1)(a) of the Housing Act 1996 (the right to acquire)—

(a) £16,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 1 to this Order;

(b) £13,500 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 2 to this Order;

(c) £11,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 3 to this Order;

(d) £10,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 4 to this Order; and

(e) £9,000 where a dwelling is in one of the areas specified in Schedule 5 to this Order.
