Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Leasehold Reform and Housing (Excluded Tenancies) (Designated Rural Areas) (Wales) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 1st April 1997.

Section 2 Interpretation

(1) In this Order, references to the communities of Ewenny, Llangan and Llangollen, are references to those communities as altered .

(2) In paragraph (1), “altered”, in relation to a community, means that community as it exists on and after 1st April 1997.

Section 3 Designated rural areas

Each community referred to in the Schedule to this Order shall—

(a) be an area designated for the purposes of section 1AA(3) of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 (additional right to enfranchise) as a rural area; and

(b) be a rural area designated for the purposes of section 17 of the Housing Act 1996 (tenant’s right to acquire his dwelling).
