Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st April 1997.

Section 2 Transitional provisions

These Regulations apply to work done in committal proceedings to which Schedule 1 to the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 applies, and the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 1989 shall apply to work done in all other committal proceedings as if these Regulations had not come into force.

Section 3 Amendments to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 1989

In the Table following paragraph 2(2) of Part III of Schedule 1 to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 1989, there shall be omitted—

(a) in item 3.1, the words “under section 6(2) of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980”;

(b) the whole of item 3.2.
