Section 1

This Order may be cited as the Civil Procedure Act 1997 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1997.

Section 2

Section 10 of the Civil Procedure Act 1997 (minor and consequential amendments), so far as it relates to paragraph 3(a) of Schedule 2 to the Act, shall come into force forthwith.

Section 3

The following provisions of the Civil Procedure Act 1997 shall come into force on 27th April 1997—

(a) sections 1 to 9; and

(b) section 10 (minor and consequential amendments) so far as it relates to the entries in Schedule 2 referred to in article 4.

Section 4

The entries in Schedule 2 referred to in article 3(b) are—

(a) paragraph 1(1) and (2) (amendment of section 18 of the Supreme Court Act 1981 );

(b) paragraph 1(4)(c) (amendment of section 84 of the Supreme Court Act 1981);

(c) paragraph 2(1) and (2) (amendment of the County Courts Act 1984 );

(d) paragraph 2(4) (amendment of section 1 of the County Courts Act 1984);

(e) paragraph 2(5) (amendment of section 3 of the County Courts Act 1984); and

(f) paragraph 4 (amendment of section 120 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 ).
