The Fire Services (Appointments and Promotion) (Amendment) Regulations 1997

Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Fire Services (Appointments and Promotion) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 14th April 1997.

Section 2

In these Regulations “the 1978 Regulations ” means the Fire Services (Appointments and Promotion) Regulations 1978 .

Section 3

In regulation 4 of the 1978 Regulations, in paragraph (1)—(c), the letters ‘(c)’and‘(e)’shall be omitted.

Section 4

Regulation 5 of the 1978 Regulations shall be amended as follows:

(a) in paragraph (1)—

(i) in sub-paragraph (b) the words “and shall not have attained” to the end of that paragraph; and

(ii) sub-paragraphs (c) and (e), shall be omitted;

(b) in paragraph (2) in sub-paragraph (b) the letters ‘(c)’and‘(e)’shall be omitted, and

(c) in paragraph (3)—

(i) for sub-paragraph (a) there shall be substituted—

(a) Paragraph (1) (a), (b), (d) and (ee) shall apply also in relation to the qualifications for appointment of a person as a retained member of a brigade

(ii) sub-paragraph (b) shall be omitted.
