Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Fishing Vessels (Certification of Deck Officers and Engineer Officers) (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 8th May 1998.

Section 2

The Fishing Vessels (Certification of Deck Officers and Engineer Officers) Regulations 1984 shall be amended as follows.

Section 3

In regulation 7, in both paragraphs (2) and (3) for “may be issued in accordance with these Regulations and such a certificate” there shall be substituted “issued before 8th May 1998”.

Section 4

In regulation 8—

(a) paragraph (2) shall be omitted; and

(b) in paragraph (3) for “certificate of competency, certificate of equivalent competency or a certificate of service” there shall be substituted “certificate of competency or a certificate of equivalent competency”.

Section 5

In regulation 9(1) for “, certificates of equivalent competency and certificates of service”there shall be substituted “and certificates of equivalent competency”.
