Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Government Changes for England (Disability Statements) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 29th June 1998.

(2) In these Regulations a “section 17 order” means an order under section 17 of the Local Government Act 1992.

Section 2 New Local Education Authorities: Disability Statements

In relation to a local authority, which by or in consequence of a structural change effected by a section 17 order became a local education authority on 1st April 1998 (having not previously been one), regulation 3(1) of the Education (Disability Statements for Local Education Authorities) (England) Regulations 1997 shall have effect as if 31st December 1998 were substituted for 15th December 1997.
