Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the New Opportunities Fund (Specification of Initiatives) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 24th July 1998.

Section 2 Specification of initiatives

For the purposes of section 43B(1) of the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 the initiatives set out in article 3 are specified.

Section 3 Specification of initiatives

(1) An initiative to provide facilities, services and advice to promote healthy living.

(2) An initiative to train teachers, staff in school libraries and staff working in public library services to use information and communications technology in order to assist learning; and to make materials of an educational nature available in a digital form on such technology.

(3) An initiative to provide activities outside school hours for children who attend school.

Section 4 Specification of initiatives

For the purposes of article 3(3) a child shall be regarded as attending school notwithstanding that he is excluded, permanently or temporarily, from school.
