Section 1 Citation, commencement and revocation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Individual Performance Information) (Identification of Individual Pupils) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 20th August 1998.

(2) The Education (Individual Performance Information) (Identification of Individual Pupils) Regulations 1997 are hereby revoked.

Section 2 Identification of individual pupils

For the purposes of subsection (2) of section 537A of the Education Act 1996 (which provides that in that section “individual performance information” means information about the performance in certain assessments, examinations and qualifications of individual pupils identified in the prescribed manner) the manner of identification of individual pupils is hereby prescribed as being by (a) gender, (b) date of birth and (c) surname followed by first name or, if more than one, each first name.
