Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemptions) (Castle Morpeth Borough Council and West Somerset and Uttlesford District Councils) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 17th September 1998.

Section 2 Exemptions of sports and leisure facilities management

(1) The management of sports and leisure facilities by the council of the borough of Castle Morpeth shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out in that borough during the period beginning with 1st January 1999 and ending on 31st December 1999.

(2) The management of sports and leisure facilities by the council of the district of West Somerset shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out during the period beginning with 17th September 1998 and ending on 1st March 2000, in the Aquasplash Leisure Centre, Seaward Way, Minehead.

Section 3 Exemption of financial services

The provision of financial services by the council of the district of Uttlesford shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out in that borough during the period beginning with 1st April 1999 and ending on 31st March 2000.
