Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemptions) (Chiltern District Council, Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 16th September 1998.

Section 2 Exemptions of financial services

(1) The financial services work of the council of the district of Chiltern shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out during the period beginning with 1st April 1999 and ending on 31st March 2000.

(2) The financial services work of the council of the district of Lewes shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out during the period beginning with 1st April 1999 and ending on 31st March 2001.

Section 3 Exemption of housing management

The housing management work of the council of the borough of Eastbourne shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out during the period beginning with 1st April 1999 and ending on 29th March 2000.
