Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Competition Act 1998 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1998.

(2) In this Order references to sections and Schedules are references to sections of and Schedules to the Competition Act 1998.

Section 2 Appointed day

(1) 26th November 1998 is the day appointed for the coming into force of–

(a) section 51 and Schedule 9 (Director’s rules) and section 52 (advice and information); and

(b) section 54(2) and paragraphs 2 to 8 of Schedule 10 (regulators) and section 59 (interpretation) for the purposes of the provisions which are brought into force by paragraph (a) above.

(2) The enactments and orders to which paragraphs 2 to 8 of Schedule 10 make amendments shall continue in force for all other purposes without the amendments made by those paragraphs.
