Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Christchurch Borough Council and Purbeck District Council) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 16th December 1998.

Section 2 Exemption of information technology services

(1) The provision of information technology services by–

(a) the council of the borough of Christchurch (“Christchurch”);

(b) the council of the district of Purbeck (“Purbeck”),

shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out by Dorset County Council during the relevant period.

(2) For the purposes of paragraph (1), “the relevant period”–

(a) for services provided by Christchurch is the period beginning with 16th December 1998 and ending immediately before 1st April 1999;

(b) for services provided by Purbeck is the period beginning with 16th December 1998 and ending immediately before 1st January 1999.

Section 3 Revocation of order

The Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemption) (Christchurch Borough Council) Order 1997 is hereby revoked.
