Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the South Tees Acute Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 1998 and shall come into force on 7th December 1998.

(2) In this Order, “the Establishment Order ” means the South Tees Acute Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1991 .

Section 2 Amendment of Establishment Order

(1) In article 1(2) of the Establishment Order (interpretation), the following definition shall be inserted after the definition of “the Act”:–

“community health services” means any services which the Secretary of State may provide under section 3(1)(d) or (e) of or Schedule 1 to the National Health Service Act 1977 and any service which he has a duty to provide under section 5(1) or (1A) of that Act ;

(2) For article 3 of the Establishment Order (nature and functions of the trust), there shall be substituted the following article:–

Nature and functions of the trust

(3) The trust’s functions (which include functions which the Secretary of State considers appropriate in relation to the provision of services by the trust for one or more Health Authorities) shall be:–

(a) to own and manage pursuant to section 5(1)(a) of the Act:

(i) Middlesbrough General Hospital, Ayresome Green Lane, Middlesbrough TS5 5AZ,

(ii) North Riding Infirmary, Newport Road, Middlesbrough TS1 5JE,

and associated hospitals and facilities, and there to provide hospital accommodation and services;

(b) to provide and manage pursuant to section 5(1)(b) of the Act:

(i) South Cleveland Hospital, Marton Road, Middlesbrough TS4 3BW,

(ii) Guisborough General Hospital (Maternity Services), Guisborough TS14 6HZ, and

(iii) West Lane Hospital (Ward 2, Isolation Unit and Nursery), Acklam Road, Middlesbrough TS5 4EE,

(iv) 24 Belle Vue Grove, Middlesbrough TS4 2PX,

and associated hospitals and facilities, and there to provide hospital accommodation and services; and

(c) to provide and manage pursuant to section 5(1)(b) of the Act:

(i) St. Luke’s Hospital Day Unit, Marton Road, Middlesbrough TS4 3AF,

(ii) 2, Langdon Square, Tollesby Bridge, Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough TS8 0TF,

(iii) 23/27 Middlesbrough Road, South Bank, Middlesbrough TS6 6NW,

and associated establishments and facilities, and there to provide community health services.
