The Local Elections (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Order 1998

Section 1

(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Elections (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) Order 1998 and shall come into force on the fourteenth day after the day on which it is made.

(2) This Order extends to Northern Ireland only.

Section 2

In paragraph 8 of Part I of Schedule 2 to the Local Elections (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 (additional requirements for applications in respect of a particular election) –

(a) in sub-paragraph (6)(a) for “eleventh” there shall be substituted “fourteenth”; and

(b) in sub-paragraphs (5)(a) and (7)(a) after “address” there shall be inserted “, that he has seen the applicant in connection with the circumstances set out in sub-paragraph (1)”.

Section 3

In paragraph 11(1), (2) and (5) of Part I of Schedule 2 to the Local Elections (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 (closing dates for applications) for “eleventh” there shall be substituted “fourteenth”.
