Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Amendment) Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1998.

Section 2

(1) The Police Regulations 1995 shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3) below.

(2) After regulation 5 there shall be inserted the following regulation:

Metropolitan police force: delegation of functions

(5A) Subject to regulation 10(11), the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis may delegate, to such extent and subject to such conditions as he may specify, any of his functions under these Regulations as chief officer to the Assistant Commissioners of Police of the Metropolis, or to one or more of them; and references in these Regulations to the chief officer shall be construed accordingly.

(3) Regulations 14(5) and 15(5) are hereby revoked.
