Section 1
These Regulations may be cited as the General Teaching Council for England (Constitution) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 11th August 1999.

The General Teaching Council for England (Constitution) (Amendment) Regulations 1999
Section 2
Regulation 12 of the General Teaching Council for England (Constitution) Regulations 1999 shall be amended by–
(a) the substitution of the following for paragraph (1)–
(1) Before the Council have been established the Secretary of State may appoint a chairman for such term of office as he thinks fit,
(b) the insertion after paragraph (1) of the following–
(1A) After the Council have been established, they shall elect a chairman from amongst their number.
