Section 1Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (Grammar School Designation) (Amendment) Order 1999 and shall come into force on 1st September 1999.

(2) In this Order “the designation order” means the Education (Grammar School Designation) Order 1998 .

Section 2Designation of grammar school

(1) The school to be established on 1st September 1999 as a voluntary controlled school and to be known as Dr Challoner’s High School (being a school to be established in substitution for a county school of the same name which is to be discontinued on that date) is designated as a grammar school for the purposes of Chapter II of Part III of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.

(2) Accordingly the Schedule to the designation order shall be amended by adding after “Dr Challoner’s High School” (opposite “Buckinghamshire” in the left hand column) the words “(established as a voluntary controlled school on 1st September 1999)”.

Section 3Further amendment of designation order

The Schedule to the designation order shall also be amended by omitting “Bristol” from the left hand column and “Cotham Grammar School” and “Fairfield Grammar School” from the right hand column.
