Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Aptitude for Particular Subjects) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 1st April 1999.

Section 2

The following subjects are prescribed for the purposes of section 102 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (permitted selection: aptitude for one or more particular subjects)–

Modern foreign languages, or any such language;

The performing arts, or any one or more of the performing arts;

The visual arts, or any one or more of the visual arts;

Physical education or sport, or one or more sports;

Design and technology;

Information technology.
