(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 31st December 1999.

The Motor Vehicles (Approval) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1999
The Motor Vehicles (Approval) Regulations 1996 shall be further amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.
In regulation 3(1)(b) after the words “paragraph 1, 1A,” there shall be inserted “1B,”.
In regulation 5(1)(c) after the words “paragraph 1, 1A,” there shall be inserted “1B,”.
In regulation 12(2) after sub-paragraph (b) there shall be inserted the following sub-paragraph—
(bb) the letter “S” if the certificate is being issued on the basis that the vehicle meets the requirements of paragraph 1B of Schedule 1 to these Regulations;
(1) Schedule 1 shall be amended as follows.
(2) In paragraph 1—
(a) paragraph (1)(b) shall be omitted; and
(b) in sub-paragraph (6) the words “; and “the five year period”” to the end of the paragraph shall be omitted.
(3) After paragraph 1A there shall be inserted—
Rebuilt vehicles
(1B) A vehicle satisfies the requirements of this paragraph if—
(a) it is a vehicle to which the Secretary of State is required by regulation 8 to assign a vehicle identification number; and
(b) it is not a vehicle which satisfies the requirements of paragraph 1A, 2, 3 or 4.
