Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and transitional provisions

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Advice and Assistance (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 12th April 1999.

(2) In these Regulations, unless the context requires otherwise, a reference to a regulation by number alone means the regulation so numbered in the Legal Advice and Assistance Regulations 1989 .

(3) These Regulations shall apply to applications for advice and assistance made on or after 12th April 1999 and applications made before that date shall be treated as if these Regulations had not come into force.

Section 2 Amendment to Legal Advice and Assistance Regulations 1989

(1) Regulation 11 shall be amended by substituting:

(a) “£83” for “£80” in paragraph (1); and

(b) “£178” for “£172” in paragraph (2).

(2) Regulation 12 shall be amended by substituting:

(a) “£75” for “£72” in each of the places where that amount is stated in paragraphs (1), (2) and (5);

(b) “£178” for “£172” in paragraph (1).
