Section 1Citation, commencement, interpretation and transitional provisions

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 12th April 1999.

(2) In these Regulations, unless the context requires otherwise, a reference to a regulation or Schedule by number alone means the regulation or Schedule so numbered in the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General) Regulations 1989 .

(3) These Regulations shall apply to applications for legal aid made on or after 12th April 1999 and applications made before that date shall be treated as if these Regulations had not come into force.

Section 2Amendments to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General ) Regulations 1989

In regulation 11(1), after “legal aid order” there shall be inserted “(whether or not it will also apply to any proceedings in the Crown Court)”.

Section 3Amendments to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General ) Regulations 1989

In Schedule 2, Part Two of Form 6 (which deals with Calculation of contribution from INCOME) shall be amended by substituting for “£50”, “£51” and, for “£51”, “£52”.

Section 4Amendments to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (General ) Regulations 1989

Schedule 4 shall be amended by substituting for “£50”, “£51” and, for “£51”, “£52”.
