Section 1

These Regulations may be cited as the Measuring Instruments (EEC Requirements) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 1st May 1999.

Section 2

The Measuring Instruments (EEC Requirements) (Fees) Regulations 1998 are hereby amended as follows–

(a) in regulation 2(1), in the definition of the “1988 principal Regulations”, for “1998” there shall be substituted “1988”;

(b) in regulation 5, for “designation of approved bodies” there shall be substituted “designation or inspection of approved bodies”;

(c) in paragraph 2 of Schedule 2, for “paragraphs 3 and 4” there shall be substituted “paragraph 4”; and

(d) after paragraph 2 of Schedule 4, there shall be inserted the following paragraph–

(2A) Where regulation 9(4) of the 1995 principal Regulations applies (variation or amendment, on request, of an approval) the fees shall be calculated on the same basis, and shall be due and payable in the same manner, as those relating to designation under paragraph 1 above except that, for the fixed fee of £260.00 for which paragraph 1(a) provides, there shall be substituted a fixed fee of £130.00.
