Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Inspection of Vocational Training) (Prescribed Persons and Bodies Awarding or Authenticating Vocational Qualifications) Regulations 1999 and shall come into force on 23rd April 1999.

(2) In these Regulations “the 1998 Act ” means the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998.

Section 2 Vocational qualifications specified for the purposes of section 34 of the 1998 Act

For the purposes of section 34(9) of the 1998 Act (which provides that “external qualification” for the purposes of inspections under that section of training leading to an external qualification which is provided in Wales in pursuance of arrangements made by the Secretary of State under section 2(2)(f) of the Employment and Training Act 1973 means a vocational qualification awarded or authenticated by such person or body as may be specified in or under regulations) the Secretary of State hereby specifies the persons and bodies listed in the Schedule.
