Section 1

The said rules are hereby approved.

Section 2

This Order may be cited as the General Medical Council (Interim Orders Committee) (Transitional Provisions) Rules Order of Council 2000, and shall come into force on 3rd August 2000.

Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Rules may be cited as General Medical Council (Interim Orders Committee) (Transitional Provisions) Rules 2000 and shall come into force on 3rd August 2000.

Section 2 Commencement

In these Rules—

“ the Committee ” means the Preliminary Proceedings Committee;

“ the Order ” means the Medical Act 1983 (Amendment) Order 2000;

“section 42” means section 42 of the Medical Act 1983 .

Section 3 Transitional provision

Where prior to the date on which the Order comes into force—

(a) a case has been referred to the Committee and the Committee has not, on the day the Order comes into force, considered whether to make an order for interim suspension or an order for interim conditional registration under section 42; or

(b) the Committee has considered whether to make an order for interim suspension or an order for interim conditional registration under section 42 but has postponed its decision until a further date falling on or after the coming into force of the Order; or

(c) the committee has made an order for interim suspension or an order for interim conditional registration under section 42 which is in force immediately prior to the date on which the Order comes into force,

a decision as to whether an interim suspension order or an order for interim conditional registration should be made or a decision as to whether such an order made prior to the date on which the Order comes into force should be renewed or revoked, shall be made by the Interim Orders Committee.
