Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2000.

(2) In this Order references to sections and Schedules are, unless otherwise specified, references to sections of, and Schedules to, the Local Government Act 2000.

(3) This Order applies in relation to England only.

Section 2 Provisions coming into force on 26th October 2000

The following provisions shall come into force on 26th October 2000—

(a) sections 14 to 16, 21, 24, 26, 29 and 102;

(b) sections 11, 13, 22, 25, 27, 28, 31, 33 and 37, except in so far as already in force;

(c) paragraphs 1 to 5 of Schedule 1 and section 23 to the extent that it relates to those paragraphs;

(d) section 39, except subsection (3), and except in so far as already in force;

(e) section 46 and Schedule 3;

(f) paragraphs 1 to 7, 16 to 23, 29 and 33 of Schedule 5;

(g) in Schedule 6, the repeal of the following provisions in the Local Authority Social Services Act 1970 —

(i) section 2(2);

(ii) in section 3(1), the words “(hereafter in this Act referred to as “social services functions”)”; and

(iii) section 6(5); and

(h) section 107 to the extent that it relates to the paragraphs and repeals referred to in paragraphs (f) and (g) of this article.
