Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (Commencement No. 8 and Consequential Provisions) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 22nd January 2001.

Section 2 Commencement

The following provisions of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 shall come into force on 22nd January 2001—

(a) section 254 so far as it relates to paragraphs 1 to 18 of Schedule 21;

(b) paragraphs 1 to 18 of Schedule 21.

Section 3 Amendment of the Private Hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998

(1) The Private Hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998 shall be amended as follows.

(2) In section 36 (interpretation) for the definition of “controlled district ” there shall be substituted—

“controlled district” means any area for which Part II of the 1976 Act is in force by virtue of—

a resolution by a district council under section 45 of that Act; or

section 255(4) of the Greater London Authority Act 1999;
